Asymmetrical Multi-level DC-link Inverter for PV Energy System with Perturb and Observe Based Voltage Regulator and Capacitor Compensator

In this paper, a perturb and observe (P&O) based voltage regulator (POVR) capacitor compensator (CC) circuit are proposed for the implementation on 31-level asymmetrical switch-diode multi-level DC-link (MLDCL) inverter. Since application of MLDCL in standalone photovoltaic (PV) system requires constant DC voltages from PV panels, POVR strategy is deployed to regulate along with capability deliver maximum power at full load. Boost DC-DC converters used as interface between panels inverter operation. The results show that capable achieving desired fixed even under varying environmental load conditions, steady 230 V output. At load, successfully delivers 97.21% theoretical power. Additionally, CC incorporated mitigate spikes output when supplying inductive loads. It eliminates also reduces total harmonic distortion (THD) current more than 10% less 5%, recommended IEEE 519 standard.
